Portrait Parties

I’ve had several requests for something like this for a while.  So…announcing, Portrait Parties!

The hostess will receive up to 15% of the sales from the party as a credit for her own portraits, plus 1 4×5 per “session” booked at the party.  The party will be at the hostess’ home or an outdoor location of her choice.  Each session will run 15-20 minutes (max).  More detailed information is available by calling 770-330-4958 and talking with Jeannine about your customized portrait party.

Perfection is not always key…

I am a complete perfectionist.  In life in general and in photography.  Thus, I haven’t had a little point and shoot in years.  Make that 8 years.  I had a 35mm Canon film camera before the digital revolution, and now I own a fantastic Canon prosumer camera with high end professional “L” series lenses.  LOVE ‘em!  All that being said, it IS a very large camera and takes quite some thinking before just “pointing and shooting”.  I don’t always lug it around to capture the “just fun” moments.  So, I’ve missed some of those silly moments of my children because of my perfectionism.

We just bought a little Canon ELPH PowerShot camera about a week ago.  I’ve stuck that thing in my purse and am working on just having fun with it, capturing the silly moments of life.  It will go on vacation with us to Disney next month and fit nicely in my pocket.  AND, through all this, it will hopefully teach me that life isn’t always about perfectionism, to let go, and just enjoy.  BUT…never fear, my fantastic “BIG” camera (as my kids refer to it) will never be far from my side.  It’s my first love photography-speaking :).

This picture was a VERY quick capture with my new ELPH before we headed out to celebrate the birth of our saviour last Sunday.  It isn’t often I find these two holding hands and not trying to “one up” the other.  I hope you’re enjoying your Christmas season together and taking lots of fun and memorable shots of your family.  Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

Newborn Angel

This little one was amazing!  She slept practically the whole time.  And, when she was awake, she was as sweet as honey.  God knew that Mrs. T could use an easy-going baby.  This is her third child, the other two are 5 years old and 2 years old (and loving being the big sister and big brother).  Little Miss P. is holding her daddy’s wedding ring.  Daddy was taken to be with the Lord about a month ago.  Please keep her family in your prayers during this hectic season.  They are just wonderful, loving people.  I couldn’t have been more blessed than to have met them!

Doing Christmas Differently…

My husband’s company decided to do things differently for Christmas this year.  Instead of having a big fancy party, they decided to host an employee auction.  The auction was today and all proceeds from today’s auction were to benefit the Jesse Draper Boys and Girls Club.

I donated a session and a 16×20 mounted wall portrait.  What is so exciting is that it was the highest bid on item, other than vacations, in the silent auction.  And, what’s REALLY exciting, is that the auction itself raised $13,000 for the Boys and Girls Club.

I bring this up to make a point.  My husband and I decided in October that we wanted to do Christmas differently this year.  Our children have loads of toys they don’t even play with.  When we’re trying to figure out WHAT to buy them for Christmas, then it’s time to stop figuring.  At least, that was our thoughts.  And, after returning from Kenya in November, those thoughts were completely solidifed.

All that to say…we’re still doing Christmas, just trying to put the emphasis on what the season is really about.  Jesus, Others, Yourself.  Remember that one?  JOY.  Where did the joy go in this busy season?  I think it went out the door for us when we forgot to put our priorities in that order.

Remember your JOY this season.  It sure does put a HUGE smile on my face.

Welcome to the new blog!

It’s finally here!  I’m so excited to get it up and running.  Thanks so much to Catherine Keene for helping me get it launched.  Besides being a great photographer, she’s also a technical genius.  You can find a link for her blog under the “Other Photographers” section.

There most-likely will be a few changes here and there on this site, as I figure out everything.  Hang with me until I get it all down.  Check back often to find out news and specials that may be running.  I will also be posting sneak-peek’s from sessions I do.  I look forward to hearing from you here.  Don’t be a stranger.
